Privacy Policy

House of Pinoy is run by Chrissie Harvey, a sole trader based in Newbury, Berkshire. House of Pinoy decides what your information is used for and is the data controller. This website is built and maintained by AK Business Solutions (Avdosina-Kemp Business-Solutions Limited), who acts as a data processor on House of Pinoy's behalf for the systems listed below.

When you place an order, we collect your name, delivery or collection address, phone number, email address, and details of what you ordered. We use this to make your order, get it to you, and contact you if there is a problem.

When you sign up for the newsletter, we collect your email address so we can send you new posts when Chrissie publishes them.

When you make an enquiry, for example about afternoon tea, corporate orders, or a celebration cake, we collect what you tell us in the enquiry form so Chrissie can get back to you.

We never see or store your card details. Card payments are taken securely by Shopify Payments through Shopify's checkout, and neither House of Pinoy nor AK Business Solutions has access to your card number at any point.

We use a small number of trusted providers to run the site and take orders. Each only sees what it needs to do its job:

Shopify, who run the shop, checkout, and stock.

Shopify Payments, who process your card payment as part of Shopify's checkout.

Royal Mail, who see the delivery address for anything posted to you.

Supabase, who host the database behind this site, in the UK. Your name and email are stored there when you send an enquiry or join the newsletter, so Chrissie can reply to you.

Our email newsletter tool, which sends the emails but does not keep its own separate copy of the subscriber list.

Our journal and newsletter system stores only the content we publish, the words and photos in each post. Your personal details, such as your name and email address, are held separately in our customer management system, hosted in the UK and protected by encryption and access controls. When we publish a new post, subscribers receive an email with a link to it. Every email includes a one click unsubscribe option, and you can opt out at any time.

We also offer optional customer accounts so you can save your details and see past orders. If you create an account, your name, email, and any addresses or favourites you choose to save are stored securely with our hosting provider, Supabase, hosted in the UK and independently security audited. Your order history itself stays with Shopify, the same place it is created, and is simply looked up for you when you are signed in, it is not copied anywhere else. You do not have to create an account to order, you can always check out as a guest. You can delete your account and everything saved against it at any time from your account page.

Resend, who deliver account-related emails on our behalf, for example confirming your email address or resetting your password. They only see the email address and content needed to send that one message.

We do not sell or share your personal data with anyone outside this list.

Our contact and enquiry forms use Google reCAPTCHA to stop spam and automated abuse. This checks some information about your device and browsing activity, and is covered by Google's own Privacy Policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy.

To stop the same form being submitted over and over by an automated script, we also keep a short lived, scrambled record of where a submission came from. It is one way scrambled, so it cannot be turned back into your address, and it is deleted automatically within the hour.

Once your order or enquiry has been handed over to Chrissie in our customer system, it is removed from AK Business Solutions' intermediary systems. Chrissie holds your details for as long as needed to manage your order, respond to any follow up, and meet her legal obligations, for example food safety and tax records.

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct anything that is wrong, ask us to delete your data, and object to how we use it. To do any of these, email houseofpinoy2025@gmail.com. If you are not happy with how your data has been handled, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

This website is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
